‘Quality without compromise, peaceful seclusion; this is the Eastwell Manor experience.’
Eastwell Manor is today a four Red Star Country House Hotel set within a three thousand acre estate on the edge of Ashford in Kent. The house you see today dates from 1843 and was rebuilt in 1928, it incorporates remains of a C17 building. The park has a long and colourful history with royal connections.
Today the Parrett family own the estate, of which Frank W Jessup, in his ‘History of Kent’, said ‘From one point in Eastwell Park it is possible to see right across the county, to the Thames Estuary in the north and to the coastline of Romney Marsh in the south.’
For those who crave somewhere grand to stay then there can be no doubt you are on the right track as you drive through the gated entrance and head towards the manor house. As a base to explore the surrounding countryside, the garden of England and visit the historic Cathedral City of Canterbury few venues can compare. To finish a busy day over dinner in the Manor House restaurant with the sweet sound of piano music in the background is a real pleasure and one to remember long past your visit. You don’t need to be an overnight guest to enjoy the grandeur either. Visit for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner and you can feel as if you are ‘to the manor born’.
Dining can be enjoyed in the main house at The Manor Restaurant or in the newer and separate Pavilion Restaurant. The Pavilion also houses a Gymnasium, indoor twenty metre pool and Spa facilities. There is a nine hole golf course and memberships are available.
Ashford International Station is on the doorstep and the M20 can be reached easily making this stylish and atmospheric retreat wonderfully accessible.
We particularly love the smell of the open fire as you step into the large reception hall. Visiting on an autumn or winter evening, taking a pre-dinner drink in front of one of many roaring log fires sets the tone for a thoroughly special experience that never pales however many times you visit.
It is a popular venue for afternoon tea, conferences and a very popular and stunning back drop for weddings. Find out more on the Eastwell Manor website.
