This is a home that, in a lovely way, surprised the current owners. Chatting to them about their time here reveals that, originally, they chose the home for its convenient setting and because they wanted somewhere modern, what they got was a home that, over time, has provided much more than expected.
Through the course of conversations, it soon becomes evident that the joy of living here, for our clients, revolves around things you don't always think to look for, nor can you be sure you will find even when you are considering them.
Quiet, it's important and this is a setting where there is little traffic, yes people come and go, there are work times and school times, but the flow of traffic seems to have little impact. What they have also enjoyed through the years is the scenery maturing as gardens develop and the homes mellow.
This is a convenient spot, it was a primary consideration originally after all, but again with an unexpected twist; a few steps take you to a riverside walk, that in itself is a lovely thing to enjoy on your doorstep, but then, for those who enjoy the exercise, it's possible to get to a swimming pool for a regular dip, there are several options of where to go, depending upon whether you choose to drive or take a more perambulatory route.
What about the house itself?
It has a charm that has been developed by the owners, there is an air of tradition that belies the modernity of the build, little touches that sit really well with you as you wander through.
Flames flickering in the fireplace, light glinting through glazed doors as it eases in from the garden. Throw open the doors from the dining room into the outdoors and it is obvious why this is a lovely home to invite friends to. The garden is designed to be enjoyed, perfect for those with busy lives, it has shape, colour, interest and space to sit and relax, step up and a view opens up to the fields and hillside beyond the river, that one you can stroll along, coming back inside and the kitchen is a wonderful space, it surprised us with the room it provided and it has a lovely stylish feel and it's practical too, easy to work in.
Upstairs there is that continuation of light flowing in, a neat arrangement of rooms that will work for a family just as well as it will for a couple who perhaps work from home and have friends and family to visit and stay.
A great location combined with a wonderfully cared for home makes this somewhere we are really looking forward to showing you.
