An easy home to move into, to buy to let out and for those with an eye for improvement this is somewhere that can satisfy the creative desire.
The thing we love about these homes is the fact that everyone manages to make theirs feel different. Over time we have seen lots of changes and variations. Ground floor bathrooms moved upstairs, first floor extensions to accommodate or even to add a third bedroom, staircases moved and that's before we think of kitchen changes and decor ideas.
As all those of its ilk, this is a home that works really well already, it has two fabulous bedrooms, the sizes of which many people in much more modern homes would cry out for, you feel a little spoilt here and those who move from these houses can often find it hard to replace the space even when moving upmarket to a supposedly bigger home.
Downstairs it is always nice to have a separate dining room. We'd love to see a door from this one opening into the garden, a nice little change for the future. The romantic in us would probably look at putting some period fireplaces back downstairs to match the ones in the bedrooms, great centre pieces to design your rooms around.
That's just us, you may and probably will have lots of other great ideas of things to do here, the beauty is, they will be your ideas to suit your lifestyle and they will work incredibly well.
As a first home, a house like this can be a real joy, a way to set a firm foot on the housing ladder and have somewhere that will reward you whilst you live there. For many it will be a second step on the ladder, a way to finally get some garden, private space to get outside and enjoy and for those investors, well we all know these homes let easily and perform time and again through the decades.
As a location, well just around the corner is Waterton Park open space, a great area to take a book and sit on a bench or, if you have a little one, somewhere to take them for a change of scenery and to enjoy the play area and equipment. Gravesend station is approx 1.5 miles by car and provides a commuter service to London Bridge, Waterloo, Charing Cross and Cannon Street.
Gravesend has a history that is fascinating and is an 'Ancient Town'. It is home to one of the oldest markets and has links with many famous figures including Charles Dickens and St Stephens Church is the resting place of North American Indian Pocohontas.
The town is set on the banks of the Thames and has a rich maritime history. Nowadays it is a popular residence for commuters and has the added attraction of being close to Bluewater Shopping Centre.
