Here is a home that blends the convenience of modern design with the charm of a Grade II Listed setting, within the grounds of a converted paper mill.
Sometimes you fall in love with a location, a place you would love to live and the desire seems to burn so bright and consume you until you manage to make the move.
'We were so lucky that everything just seemed to fall into place', the owners tell us, 'we'd wanted to live here in this beautiful little valley for some time but never thought it would happen and then we discovered that the old mill was going to be converted and, surprisingly, they were also building some new homes as part of the development'.
Back in 2008/9 these homes were being built and suddenly all went from being a pipedream to becoming reality. More than ten years on it is finally time to consider a move.
'We've loved it here!' That is a common comment we get from people who have lived here in the mill.
We also still get excited every time we turn into the road and drive up past the ponds and the cascade, past charming cottages nestled within this little valley, one that somehow seems to transport you to a different place and time. It is so strange to thinks that a simple walk and you are back into Maidstone, that the train station can be reached on foot and that this nature reserve can be so beautiful, an oasis on the edge of the town.
This modern house sits within the gated Grade II Listed community that is a converted paper mill. Stand in the bedroom, open the doors to the Juliette balcony and you are looking toward the wooded slope of Loose Valley Conservation Area, the sound of the stream will come to your ears and there is a feeling of peace and escape that is part of life here.
Many will know we love this spot; we've sold homes for others that have lived here and the sense of community and the joy of being part of it people share always impresses us. There are communal gardens to enjoy, a parking space in the undercroft and visitor parking is catered for too.
The house has a private garden to the rear, one to catch the afternoon and early evening Sun from. Mornings are made up with sunlight through the balcony doors and downstairs the French Doors to the kitchen open out onto a seating area, a place to sit and enjoy a lazy start to the day. This is a home that has a cloakroom downstairs, a bathroom upstairs and an en suite to the main bedroom, making it a perfect home to invite guests to visit.
