This is a home that is so much more than the sum of its four bedrooms, reception rooms and lovely kitchen.
Stunning doors! That may seem a strange introduction to a home but they seem to embody what makes this property so special. Majestic is one word you might attribute to them, over three feet wide (a metre to be PC), they are wonderful pieces of craftsmanship, tall as they are broad they are substantial, tactile and you feel special opening or closing one. Why such a feature in our eyes? Doors of this stature only work in a building that suits them, that has wide corridors and broad rooms, high ceilings and a grand staircase and this home certainly has all that. From the moment you stand on the front porch you know this is somewhere that will excite you. What it also seems to do is welcome you and embrace you, there is something about it as you wander through that comforts and makes you feel like you belong. Visions of laughing children running downstairs bathed in sunlight spring to mind. Carrying a tray of lemonade and biscuits into the garden in the summertime, pulling wellies off after a winters walk, all those things seem to be an implicit part of life in a home like this. It is somewhere to have a train set running over the floor of the bedroom, a dolls house in one corner and a pile of books beside the armchair, as for the understairs cupboard, well that's another adventure altogether. It is also somewhere that can bring a family together for breakfast in that marvelous kitchen. Friends will love to visit and sit in the dining room before stepping into the conservatory for a relaxed drink after. It has a garden that is both useable and pretty simple to maintain. A greenhouse hides along the side of the house and there are places to hide garden paraphernalia out of site along with those necessary but dreaded wheelie bins. The double garage and driveway provide plenty of parking and with fence, trees and shrubs set you back from the road. This will make a perfect home for those downsizing to get away from commitments of large gardens and acreage and it will suit a growing family with a busy life.
Hadlow, one of our favourite villages is on your doorstep. From historic and picturesque church to quaint square with shops around it, this is a place that surprises many. Butchers, bakers and greengrocers still flourish. There is a pub, a restaurant and fish and chip shop, hairdressers, primary school and much more. Many know Hadlow for the agricultural college and the rural landscape around is very much a working and changing scene of country life. Approaching the village, it is almost impossible to miss the iconic Hadlow Tower, a folly that stands proud over the landscape. Living here you'll have endless pleasure sourcing rural walks, exploring country pubs and uncovering a fascinating local history. The market town of Tonbridge is just down the road, a sometimes underappreciated jewel of west Kent. Home to the stunning Tonbridge School the town has an excellent reputation for great schooling, has a historic castle at its heart and straddles the river Medway. A main line commuter station serves London Bridge, Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Victoria and of course provides access to Eurostar Trains at Waterloo and Ashford. Fancy a trip to Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone? No problem, they're all easy to reach by road from here.
