This is a home that surprises you in many ways, it's easy to pre judge and it provides so much more than you first expect.
For the owners, moving here fourteen years ago was a simple choice to make. Work had brought them to the area and Tenterden stood out as a town to settle in. Six months of renting locally gave them an insight into the area, where was nice, convenient and somewhere they would want to stay.
When this home came available it ticked so many boxes they had to view it. The top floor was an instant winner, with a teenage daughter it provided an amazing freedom for her to have a bedroom and fun space to combine studying and having friends around.
The house had already been extended and our clients saw that with a little further improvement it would make a super home for them, one they have stayed in longer than anywhere else they have been.
This is a home that has a kerb appeal instantly, grab a glimpse of it through the gate as you pass and it has that timeless appeal. Neo Georgian, the look is charming and framed by the lovely plants of the front garden it has a quaint cottagey appeal surprising for a home of this size.
Step through the front door and you will be trying to determine which is your favourite feature. The stunning herringbone wood floors instantly grab us, turn your gaze to the right and you will be wanting to get a book or a newspaper and settle into a chair in the morning room, a great spot to enjoy the colour of the front garden from. A front garden that feels very private inside its walled surroundings.
This is a home that anyone can enjoy and for a family it will be brilliant. There is a TV room to capture those big screen moments and perhaps provide some freedom to choose to watch different programmes. The living room runs from front to back and has a wonderful feel with french doors opening onto the rear garden as does the dining room, they bring the evening sun into the home.
The kitchen is somewhere that you'll find appealing, stylishly finished this room steps around to connect with the garage and a door opens to the car port. A vaulted roof draws light in and makes it a delightful area.
Upstairs the top floor makes the archetypal teenagers pad. The real bonus if this home is how the master bedroom has developed. Now a superb suite of rooms it provides of course a bedroom and adds a spacious dressing room leading to an en suite shower room. It's brilliant and with a total of four bedrooms in all, this is a family home and somewhere to invite friends to as well.
We've talked about the front garden and it is a real feature. So is the rear, opening out as it does with a large patio area to catch the afternoon and evening sun. It's a space that gives you a sense of freedom, of having room to be yourself, for kids to play and friends to join you. It is a garden that has balance and suits the home perfectly, not too large, certainly not small, somehow it feels just right.
The location has been a huge bonus and, as we already mentioned, one of the main reasons for choosing to move here. Access to Ashford for schooling, locally for Homewood and other choices, all are easily reached. A walk into the superb and very picturesque High Street puts a brilliant selection of shops at your disposal along with restaurants, pubs and cafes. Waitrose and Tescos locally provide general shopping needs but explore the delightful boutiques of the town for an experience that is truly Tenterden. Venture further afield to discover the Kent and East Sussex Railway, steam trains to excite young and old, or visit Smallhythe Place, once the home of Victorian Actress Ellen Terry and now belonging to the National Trust.
This is a home that will appeal in a town that you will love, amongst countryside that delights. See you soon.
