For the current owners, moving to West Hougham was a refreshing change of pace. Driving through some lovely countryside just helps to set work and the world to the back of your mind. Dover and Folkestone are nearby, surprisingly easy to access, yet you wouldn't imagine you were as close as you are. Canterbury with all its history and charm is easily accessible too and of course the continent is a hop skip and a jump away.
'We wanted somewhere to relax, to bring the horses closer to us and yet we couldn't be too far out', the owners told us, 'it's a great community here and when we first saw the house we liked the fact it was modern and that we had the opportunity to enlarge it.'
Improve the home they have in their time here and it has become somewhere that can suit people for any number of reasons. There are now four bedrooms although the attic bedroom has become the TV room, a great place for the 'PlayStation' sessions. It means the living room is a proper place for relaxing and great for entertaining guests. The kitchen stretches across the rear of the home and holds a table wonderfully, ideal for family meals together and when friends come around you can cook, dine and then repair to the living room and forget the after dinner chores for a while. The utility room alongside the kitchen is a great place for the dog bowls and keeps the laundry out of sight.
The bedrooms are all super sizes, a benefit of the sensible way the owners extended. The master bedroom has an en-suite, a dressing room and the landing is a lovely size adding an extra element to the feel of this as a home. We mentioned the attic bedroom which is used as a TV room, if you have a teenager then this will be they space they will covet.
To the front there is parking for a number of cars and the garage provides more space. The rear garden is an interesting 'L'shape with a charming wall bounding it. Easy to manage it is a space to enjoy and not become a slave to looking after.
